Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

At Woodford Green Preparatory we recognise that parents are children’s first educators and we encourage a strong partnership with school.

Our recent excellent ISI Inspection (2015) report made reference to our strong links with parents. ‘Provision in the EYFS is outstanding in meeting the needs of the range of children who attend and contributing to their well-being… The quality of leadership and management, including links with parents, is excellent’.

The committed hardworking team ensures all children access a full educational programme and that their progress is recorded and fully monitored. We aim to inspire confident learners through a culture of high expectations that continuously celebrates the social, academic and emotional successes of all pupils.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum so learning is developed through a balance of child-initiated and teacher-led activities that are topic based. Activities are planned around play and learning through real experiences therefore creating a smooth transition from home or play groups. Children learn phonics and become independent readers and writers before leaving the Foundation stage. In mathematics they learn to recognise, count, read and write numbers. We follow Abacus scheme of work for mathematics and Jolly Phonics for literacy.

At Woodford Green Pre-Preparatory we nurture a lifetime love of learning through fostering positive work ethics habits and celebrating each individual.
